Appointments & Scheduling
When you submit the online form, you are submitting an application — not confirming an appointment. Our team reviews every application within 1–2 business days and contacts you to confirm a specific date and time. We do this to match clinic capacity with demand and ensure everyone is served fairly.
After you submit your application, we typically contact you within 1–2 business days to confirm a date. Actual appointment availability varies by season and demand. We will do our best to accommodate your preferred dates.

Eligibility & Requirements

This is a case-by-case medical decision. Please call us at (931) 684-5353 before submitting your application so we can advise you properly. Surgery on a pet in heat carries additional risks and may affect scheduling.
Pricing & Financial Assistance
Grants are available for pet owners with proof of low income or active enrollment in a federal or state assistance program including SNAP, Medicaid/TennCare, SSI, SSDI, WIC, or Section 8 housing. Some grants are state-funded. Call (931) 684-5353 to check your eligibility before applying.
We accept cash and credit/debit cards. Payment is due at the time of service. If you are applying for grant assistance, documentation of program enrollment is required at time of surgery.
No. Our pricing is fully transparent. The prices shown on our Services & Pricing page are what you pay. There are no hidden fees or surprise charges. Add-on services like vaccines and microchipping are optional and priced individually.
Most add-on services (vaccines, tests, nail trims) must be performed at the time of the spay or neuter surgery. The one exception is microchipping, which can be scheduled as a standalone appointment.
Surgery & Recovery
Yes. In the vast majority of cases, pets go home the same day as their surgery. You will receive post-operative care instructions at the time of discharge. Please bring a secure carrier for cats, and a leash for dogs, for the trip home.
Restrict all strenuous activity for 7–10 days. Keep the incision site clean and dry — no baths during recovery. Check the incision twice daily for drainage, swelling, or redness. Use an Elizabethan collar if your pet licks the incision. Limit food the first evening. See our full post-operative care guide for detailed instructions.
All spayed and neutered animals receive a small, permanent tattoo placed next to the incision site at no additional charge. The tattoo is a green line or dot that indicates the animal has been surgically altered. This is a standard veterinary practice that helps shelter staff, future owners, and veterinarians identify the animal’s surgical history.
Yes. Dogs may have a slight cough for a few days following surgery. This is caused by the endotracheal tube used to deliver anesthesia and is completely expected. If the cough persists beyond three to four days, or if your dog seems distressed, call us at (931) 684-5353.
Call MTSNC at (931) 684-5353 for any concerns directly related to surgery during recovery hours. For after-hours emergencies, contact your regular veterinarian or Animal Medical Center at (615) 867-7575. MTSNC is not responsible for complications arising from illnesses or injuries unrelated to the surgery.
